MONDAY’S POWER OUTAGE AND SUBSEQUENT INVITATION TO PICK UP STUDENTS
We would like to thank all families for their patience on Monday as we worked towards tracking, collecting and dismissing close to 400 students on Monday during the power outage. This was a challenging task and we learned some important take a ways that we will add to our procedures and protocols should this or something similar occur again.
BUSSING AND MASKS
ALL bussing students MUST wear a mask before boarding the bus. This is mandatory and the drivers will not take them if they keep coming to the bus without one. Route 10 had to hand over 15 masks this morning.
Classroom teachers and the Dunsmuir office have extra masks if your child requires one.
COMMUNICATING STUDENT LEARNING (CSL)
You would have heard from your child’s teacher about how and when they are communicating student learning (previously “report card”). Please pay close attention to this communication and when you can expect this feedback as to how your child has been doing with their learning up until this point in time. Most teachers will be sending these home or completing them on MyEd between November 20th – through to the first week of December. In the event that your child’s teacher is using MyEd, you will be able to access the Point of Progress through the Parent Portal beginning on December 7th.
As a school, we are reminding students regularly of our COVID-19 protocols. As we track cases on the island, it is a reminder that this is a time to be diligent and follow all protocols, not a time for complacency. Thank you for your continued support.
HAND SANITIZER FUNDRAISER
We still have hand sanitizer left. Beat the rush at stores and support our Leadership 8 group. Payment can be made online through the School Cash Online Portal – only $20.50 for a large bottle and two travel-sized bottles. Get yours before they run out!
A reminder to parents to please wear a mask when on school property. Thank you for your attention to this.
MYED BC PARENT PORTAL
We are excited to use MyEd BC Family Portal to facilitate greater communication between teachers, schools, and families. The portal allows parent guardians to view: Class Attendance Information

It is important that you log in and get acquainted with the portal since you will be receiving your students report card through the parent portal as well as your annual Verification Sheets.

STUDENT ARRIVAL AND PICK UP AT SCHOOL
A general reminder that students should not arrive to school earlier than is necessary and need to make their way home immediately at the end of the day. This is to ensure all COVID-19 guidelines are followed and intentional or unintentional gathering is not taking place.

The Dunsmuir Middle School Book Fair is into our final week. If you haven’t taken a look please do so soon. There are a lot of great new titles at great prices.
