BACK TO SCHOOL HAND SANITIZER FUNDRAISER
Leadership is holding a Back to School Hand Sanitizer fundraiser, and you don’t want to miss out! Our Back to School Bundle ($20.50) includes ONE large 1L refill bottle and TWO 60mL backpack/lunch bag bottles filled with good quality Sanipur gel hand sanitizer (75% Ethyl Alcohol). We only have 250 bundles, so get your orders in ASAP, as these will go quickly! Help support your child’s school while keeping your family healthy at the same time…that’s a win-win!
Orders can be made through your child’s Student Cash Online account, and are filled on a first come, first served basis, until we reach 250 sold.
Orders will be fulfilled and sent home with your child on Fridays, a week following your order.
BEFORE & AFTER-SCHOOL
Parents are asked to make arrangements to meet students on one of the side-streets near Dunsmuir (Benhomer, Carson, Fairview, Owens) for pick-up and drop-off. There are so many families picking up and dropping off in front of the school, in addition to students from different cohorts waiting for rides. Safety and adherence to the COVID-19 protocols are a priority and we are asking parents to help us by following these guidelines. Please wait for your children off the property and encourage your child to wear a mask before and after school. The COVID-19 Guidelines and PHO Directives are important before/after and during school – please help us with this!

DROP OFF AND PICK UP
In the interest of safety, ALL parents are asked to drop their children off on a side street where it is safe to pull over without causing a significant hazard and traffic impediment for others. Students will not need to walk more than a block to get to the cross walk and into the school. Currently, dozens and dozens of families pull up to the cross walk, stop in the middle of the road, hold up traffic while their children get out of the car. This morning alone, 3 passenger doors were opened up in the lane of cyclists who were travelling LEAGALLY down the righthand side of the road. Fortunately the cyclists was alert and was able to avoid injury, but it is a matter of time before there is a significant injury. Please help us keep all students safe and drop your children off a more appropriate location. Thank you for your support!!!!

For parents to place their order online, they can go to mylifetouch.ca and use the picture day ID QU010046Q0. They can order right away or up to 48 hours after photo day.
If you have not done so, please complete the online consents by this Thursday, September 17. This includes acknowledgement of the parental responsibility to complete HEALTH CHECK every morning BEFORE sending your child to school. This is one of the ways in which we ensure EACH child’s school experience is as safe as it can possibly be. Thank you for your immediate attention to this.

Please note: 2.5% administrative fee will be added to cover costs related to the school’s online payment portal and/or associated cred card service fees.
Given the physical distancing requirements the recommended method of payment is online.

ONWARD AND UPWARD
We are now half-way through the 1st full week of school. Between COVID-19 and Air Quality challenges (forest fires), it sure has been an unusual beginning to the school year. All of that aside, students seem to be settling in well to the new routines and various protocols in place. We can see their comfort level increasing and anxiety decreasing as each day goes by. With most students being 6 months removed from being in class and regular instruction, to point, they are adjusting very well provided the circumstances.
PAC MEETING – TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22ND
The first PAC meeting is scheduled for September 22 @ 6:30 and is currently expected to take place outdoors at Dunsmuir Middle School. If you are interested in attending or volunteering for a position, we look forward to seeing you there.
PARENT PORTAL – INFORMATION UPDATE
We have been working on resetting passwords from the summertime. We have updated many parent passwords but will not be able to do this on a timely basis with our daily workloads we are responsible for in the office. So parents, please make note of your login, password, and link to the Parent Portal to reduce the need for reset passwords.
For those parents who can now access the portal, if you see your information (for example, address, phone number or email address) incorrect or needs to be changed, please email our school email at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please do not call our office as we need this email for record keeping purposes. Thank you for your assistance.
Please have your student bring a printed receipt of proof of purchase to our office window. Once we receive the SPC cards, we will send them home to those who have paid online only. Thank you.
A reminder to parents we have a limited visitor parking in front of the school, close to the gym. Parents are asked not to drop off/pick up students using the staff parking spots. Our staff have resources and equipment to carry in the school and are having to park blocks away due to parents waiting in the lot before school. Thank you!
STUDENT HANDOUTS DEADLINE – SEPTEMBER 18TH
Parents, please complete the Student handout forms that were sent home recently. These need to be returned as soon as you can. If you are missing some, please contact the office and we can send home another form to you.

STUDENT IN NEED OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Parents, we have some backpacks and limited school supplies available on a first come first serve basis. If your child has a need for these, please contact Christy in the office at 250-478-5448 ext 223.
If your child ordered a yearbook last year but did not pick it up, Mrs. Stewart and Ms. Caldwell will be bringing them to their classrooms for them as soon as they can. Please be patient. If you ordered a book you will get one!
