Mr. Darren Russell, Principal
Welcome to the 2017-18 school year. I am so excited to start a new year at Dunsmuir Middle School and look forward to working with this fabulous school community once again.I began my teaching career at Dunsmuir Jr. High in September 1989. I worked here for 6 years before heading off for a one year teacher exchange program in Perth, Australia. I returned to Dunsmuir Middle School and became the Vice-Principal in September 2006. I was given the opportunity to take on the role of Vice-Principal of Belmont Secondary School in January of 2013 before heading back to Dunsmuir as Principal in September 2014.I am so fortunate to be surrounded by amazing people. The staff at Dunsmuir truly care for the students and we all do our best to create a culture that is calm, safe and welcoming. We will continue to practice our values of Honesty, Kindness and Respect, and we will model and encourage our students to do the same. This will create the best learning environment for the whole school community.Communication is very important to me. I encourage parents to stay involved and connect with your child’s teacher. Please contact us if you have any questions, ideas or concerns. Thank you for your support.Darren Russell

Welcome to Dunsmuir! This is my third year at Dunsmuir as Vice-Principal and I look forward to working in our seismically-upgraded facility!
I join Dunsmuir after two years at École John Stubbs as a Vice-Principal and ten years as a music teacher in SD61 and St. Michaels University School. I have a passion for music and have organized the Capital City Jazz Festival for 10 years, which will be held right here at Dunsmuir in May 2017!
As a Vice-Principal, I am passionate about school culture and helping students ‘get involved.’ I am excited to work with the staff, students, and incredible community around Dunsmuir.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, thoughts, or just to say hello!

Ms. Andrea Millen, Vice-Principal
Welcome Back! This is my second year as Vice Principal at Dunsmuir and I look forward to a great 2017/18 school year for our whole school community. I began my teaching career as a Middle School Learning Support teacher at Glenlyon Norfolk School in Victoria. In 2013, I joined the Sooke School District 62 as Vice Principal at École John Stubbs. Since then I have worked at École Poirier and the Elements District Middle School Behaviour Program. I particularly enjoy being a part of the Dunsmuir Student Support Department. I have particular interest in helping students improve and advocate for themselves in their area of need as well as shine in their areas of strength. I also very much value connectedness and building positive relationships with students, staff and parents. If you have any questions for me please feel free touch base. I am looking forward to an amazing year at Dunsmuir!
