Mr. Mark Kaercher, Principal

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. I am excited and honored to begin my role as principal of Dunsmuir Middle School. Thus far in my career, I have been afforded the opportunity to work and learn in Elementary Schools, Middle Schools and Secondary Schools, including Alternative Education. I am truly excited to make my way back to the “middle” and become a part of the Dunsmuir Middle School team. I look forward to working with the staff and students of Dunsmuir Middle School in continuing to support, celebrate and practice its core values of: Honesty, Kindness and Respect. I look forward to meeting, learning from and working with the students, staff, parents, families and community of Dunsmuir Middle School. I encourage families to continue to be involved and engaged in their child’s education from Kindergarten through to Grade 12 (and beyond). To this end, please feel free to contact me or set up a meeting should you have any questions, concerns or ideas. I am looking forward to a fantastic year. Thank you.Mark KaercherExt. 225 or mkaercher@sd62.bc.ca

Brief biography

Pam Gerrits is in her eighth year as a Vice-Principal at Dunsmuir Middle School in the Sooke School District, after several years as a music educator in the Greater Victoria School District. As a provincial team member creating the new BC Arts Curriculum, Ms. Gerrits has a unique depth of understanding of the BC Music Curriculum and has presented at UVic, school district sessions, and provincial conferences. At the middle school level, she has worked with various curricular initiatives, including the new BC Curriculum, the MOE Communicating Student Learning Pilot, and Google Education, which assisted staff considerably as we shifted to the current online Continuity of Learning model.
